As part of the InterGen Erasmus+ project, 5 workshops were hosted across 5 SMEs — 2 in Belgium, 2 in Greece, and 1 joint workshop bringing both countries together in Greece. Each workshop took place inside a real company, turning the workplace itself into a living learning environment.
The workshops brought together intergenerational pairs — typically one younger employee (under 35) and one more experienced colleague (over 50) — creating a space of genuine mutual exchange. The audiences were engaged, enthusiastic, and diverse, with careful attention to gender balance and inclusion.
The heart of each session was scenario-based role-playing, where participants stepped into realistic workplace situations, practising both digital and soft skills with their generational counterpart. These weren’t abstract exercises — they were grounded in real SME challenges, leading to concrete, meaningful outcomes: documented insights per pair, action points for the workplace, and lasting connections between colleagues who might never have truly collaborated before.
The format combined hands-on exercises, peer-to-peer teaching, collaborative problem-solving, and guided reflection — all designed to make knowledge flow naturally in both directions. Younger participants shared digital know-how; more experienced colleagues brought leadership wisdom and deep understanding of business relationships.
The result? Not just happy pairs — but teams that left with real skills, real plans, and a new appreciation for what every generation brings to the table.
Joint Final Webinar — "Intergenerational and Multicultural Learning in SMEs"
The crowning moment of the InterGen project was a two-day Joint Final Webinar, co-organised by Mellon Omega (Belgium) and Akadimos (Greece). This event brought together the full journey of the project — its research, workshops, tools, and real-life stories — into one powerful shared space.
The webinar featured a roundtable discussion with key stakeholders including SME representatives, HR professionals, education experts, and policymakers. Participants engaged in interactive sessions that explored the real-world impact of intergenerational learning, with success stories and practical insights drawn directly from the workshops held in both countries.
The event served as a platform to present the project’s key findings and best practices, making the case for why intergenerational collaboration is not just good for people — it’s good for business.
